TKS for 1st ES QSOs this season.
1st open to UA6, It was difficult to complete some QSOs,
like R6NA and UA6AKW.
Shortly after 15minuts ES it opened on NW.
just 1 period hrd 3 PA station. Start QSO with PA2CV, but NC.
GM4FVM hrd when my antenna was be on East.
I turned it to NW and made a solid QSO with GM.
It was challenging to track MUF in 2 directions..

The band was open every now and then starting in the late morning, mostly YU, LZ, SV, E7, Z3. Later South-West Russia popped out of the noise giving me an unexpected new square no. 1485 via terrestrical propagation.

The hour long opening in the afternoon from SP and East DL to RA4 was too far for my place. I only once copied RA4FKT LO23 but no QSO, some 150 km were missing to hit the relexion area.

What a nice personal start into this year’s ES season on 2 m.

The opening began in a very “normal” way with QSOs around the 1500 km mark. Signals were stable enough, nothing spectacular at first glance. But then, out of nowhere, R7XD appeared for a few short periods.

I managed to work him immediately – and right after the QSO he completely vanished on my end. Classic ES behaviour, but this time with a twist:
2897 km is my personal best via Sporadic‑E, without any tropo enhancement involved. That alone would have made the day memorable.

About twenty minutes later UA6FM showed up, again only for a handful of periods. Weak, short, unstable – but long enough to complete the QSO and get him safely into the log. Considering the relatively big area of the ES cloud at that moment, it’s very likely that Chordal Es played a major role in enabling these extreme distances.

All in all, a surprisingly dynamic start into the season: short openings, fast fading, but with the kind of long‑haul paths that remind you why 2 m ES is so addictive :-)

Opening was already started when I reached the shack, but fortunately I managed some QSOs with russian stns. Signals were not strong, but quite stable, especially from KN95 and LN05.
Little before 11 UT, ES was open to both UA6 and GM directions. GM8IEM has been worked with antenna to UA6. After beaming antenna his way, signals from Martin were peaking +12.

A day full with high MUF Es clouds, with the eastern ones staying more or less on the same positions. The late afternoon opening had very much potential for some interesting QSOs into UA4, but we just could not reach the cloud(s). There was an interconnecting extension cloud, given the numerous 2700 km+ QSOs made by several DLs, but it did not move to the west what often happens. At one point I jumped, as I copied R4CX (2800 km), but only for 1 period.... But that was it. Well, at least I HEARD a new square :-)

First ES for me in 2026 and it was fun.

It started towards NE managed to get RX4CQ, UA4AQL very quickly turned direction towards NW, ON4KHG and DL1KDA where worked from NE direction and while antenna was making a full rotation towards NW. It got strong at points where signals where +20db on the radio. Did not managed to check SSB.

All QSOs uploaded to QRZ and LoTW for digital confirmation, QSL cards will be sent as well to stations that have "Buro/Bureau" marked in QRZ QSL via field in the next batch.

Thanks all hope for a longer opening and some SSB activity next time.
