In 4 to 5 weeks from now, we might have the first Sporadic E openings on 144 MHz. With the tools we have now, it must be possible to detect Sporadic E faster than ever. 50 MHz and 70 Mhz will be good indicators for 144 MHz Sporadic E; be aware of very short skip on these bands and make spots on the cluster. Special software like LiveMUF will extract data and will be able to indicate 144 MHz Sporadic E before you have noticed yourself! LiveMUF software is developed by Dave Edwards, G7RAU, and can be found on his webpage:
LiveMUF There you will also find the do's and don'ts about spotting Sporadic E. Also in 2013 we like to invite you to send your Sporadic E logs to MMMonVHF. We will try to have them online as soon as possible. Be aware that this is not an automatic process so it takes time to see your log show up in the list. No need to send it twice the same day! Please check the MMMonVHF forum about the best way to send your log and which format to use. |
