23. Apr 2023
On April 21st Solar Area 13283 produced an M1.6 flare which was associated by a large CME. Today at 19:25 GMT the CME hit the ACE satellites with resulting big wind shock and a negative Bz. At time of writing (19:50 GMT) there is some weak aurora in central Europe, but we should be alert for a possible big aurora later tonight. The Bz slowly moved to neutral untill 01 GMT on April 24th when it flung strongly to the south again (-30!), but Ham activity was obviously very low at that time in Europe. All in all a potentially strong event, but it did not work out for the EU ham community. |
