** EME Yuri's night **

Friends, Plans are being worked on for a big, coordinated, world
wide EME (Moon Bounce) event for Yuri's Night, 2011 on or about
April 12. Good moon positioning for Arecibo tracking if they can
come on board. Young folks/Educators/STEM/Live Media (like the
vidcast broadcasts done at Arecibo ) / Big Dish/Big Antenna-Small
Antenna/ participation is strongly encouraged. There has been EME
activity in prior Yuri's nights, the one at NASA Ames is notable
memorable. Hope to bring a lot of big dishes on board, as enablers
of Smaller Antenna success, and maximum publicity, science outreach
exposure .Lots of time to build an event format. Feeback encouraged

** From Space Weather.com **

METEOR SHOWER: The University of Western Ontario meteor radar is
picking up strong returns from the Southern Delta Aquarid meteor
shower, which peaks on July 28th and 29th. Sky watchers
(particularly in the southern hemisphere) should be alert for
meteors between about 10 pm and dawn. "Visual rates could be as
high as 20 per hour," notes Bill Cooke of NASA's Meteoroid
Environment Office, "although glare from the nearly full Moon will
make the fainter meteors difficult to see."

Aloha to all, My lovely wife and I are headed out for a few weeks,
Ecuador wandering North adventually to Belize and home from
Quintana Roo. I have applied for and received my call signs HC1JA
and V31JA. I will reciprocal operation if I set up in Guatemala.
I will be operating 6m and 2m. I could be active anytime between
28th July and 18th August. I have global phone, text and www.
I will upload to Gab's DXspotter when I can. Perhaps other spotters
to drum activity. I frequent 17m when in this region, so maybe
find me there on HF also occasionally during N/S openings morning
and evening. I wont be attempting any lengthy 6m eme, I have a 100
watts and small antenna, but will be doing 2m eme, 600watts and
5wl antenna. On 2m I am normally found around .140 digital (always
1st for CQ) or .070 CW. On 6m I prefer CW sub-band, so will hunt
there. On 6m hope for an opening, I will be! ...
